Contemporary Mixed Media Art

Diederik van Apple always had a deep passion for popular culture, at first developing an interest in Walt Disney before also becoming fascinated by films such as Pulp Fiction, The Godfather and Scarface. Although he at first studied for law, he soon found that this was not a creatively satisfying pursuit, and so in 2005 he started as an Art Representative in an art gallery in Amsterdam. It was in this role that he was able to travel around the world participating exhibitions and art fairs for the gallery. It was, in turn, through this experience that he found his true passion.

Intriguing Original Artwork

This proved to be a very useful apprenticeship, as he was able to begin to think about his own artistic vision. Experimenting with mixed media, he came to present his first exhibition of his work in 2017, making three series of limited editions which were shortly sold out. His playfulness, freshness and energy intrigued and captivated many in the art scene, and it has only continued to do so in the past few years.

Striking Modern Art Sculptures

His work has been shown all over Europe as well as in the Middle East and the USA. It is easy to see why it has cut through in quite the way that it has. Highly communicative and referential, this is art which is well placed in the modern world. Though it uses techniques associated with post-modernism, it does not do so in a cynical or wholly ironic way, but rather has positive messages of hope and joy running through the sculptures and artworks.
